Producer Frank Marshall Discusses ‘Jurassic Park 4′
Although a potential fourth installment in the Jurassic Park franchise has been lingering in development hell for years, producer Frank Marshall finally has news to share with us.
According to Collider, Marshall stated that Jurassic Park 4 would most likely make its debut on the big screen within two years. The fourth installment will definitely be a sequel instead of a reboot or remake, and it will be aiming for a summer release date. After all, it is intended to be a “popcorn movie.” Steven Spielberg will not be in the director’s chair for this one, but he is going to be involved in the film’s development.
If there’s one thing Marshall is excited about for Jurassic Park 4, it’s the recent advances in visual effects technology. He is interested in seeing what CGI can do nowadays thanks to the latest technological developments in computer-generated imagery. However, he has also stated that whoever directs Jurassic Park 4 will not be abandoning the use of old-school practical effects, puppets, and animatronics from the previous films. Besides, creating dinosaurs via practical means adds a level of verisimilitude that is appreciated by both audiences and cast members.
There has been no word as to who will direct the film, but there are many young filmmakers out there who could introduce a new take on the series.
